5-Week Check-Up
The 5-week check-up is the first of the preventive child health examinations and plays an important role in detecting any congenital or undiagnosed conditions. The doctor will conduct a thorough examination of the baby, weigh and measure it, and assess whether its development is age-appropriate.
The parent consultation often focuses on topics such as: the birth, the baby’s sleep patterns, and nutrition.
Milestones:
-
The baby can lift its head when lying on its stomach.
-
The baby’s cry differs depending on whether it is hungry, has a wet diaper, or is in pain.
-
The baby can briefly focus on moving objects.
-
The baby smiles at mom or dad.
